We were so excited when we came across the film Virunga – the inside story of the battle for the incredible national park – on Netflix. The sometimes harrowing, but always inspiring, footage gave us clear first hand evidence of why using our Honey Rum to do our bit is so important.
The honey we use in our unique rum comes from within the Virunga National Park itself, where farmers are paid by the state to produce delicious jungle honey as an alternative to habitat-destroying deforestation. As the film shows, the conflict over these beautiful habitats (and the amazing creatures living in them) is much bigger that one flavourful ingredient, but it’s also a reminder that doing your bit really does matter.
